Of WP newbie troubles, early alarms and Lord Stow’s Bakery’s egg tarts

It has occurred to me that good pictures would make this blog infinitely more interesting.

Unfortunately, I have no good pictures. I have no DSLR or anything easily accessible apart from, as most people do, a smartphone that takes pics. Mine is a 3.2 megapixel thingymajiggy, and I can tell you any pics posted here from it will appear very grainy!

Also unfortunately, I am no computer coder, and thus have no clue how to edit this blog site other than the provided themes, etc. I apologize to all long-time bloggers for the newbie-ness of my site.

OF COURSE, it doesn’t really matter, I don’t know why I think it matters, what they think. Maybe because I just finished scanning (that’s literally, not scanner-scanning) some article on “the mistakes that newbie wordpressers make” or something like that.

My issue right now, however, is that my name that comes out above the website name is “randomramblemate” and not “Random Ramblemate” like I want it to be; gahh, I’ll just ask around about that. NOTE: Changing my display name did nothing to remedy it.

ANYWAY, what I really wanted to say were two random things:

1) I wake up at 4:30am with my phone alarm every morning to prepare for work, and my alarm is also set to 5am, which is when I have to be out of the bathroom and getting my younger sister up for school. The other night, Mom warned me that she wouldn’t be getting up (her usual time is 4am), so if I didn’t wake up with my 4:30 alarm, she wouldn’t be there to give me a reminding shove.

In light of this, I set a new alarm for 4:45am since I don’t recall my alarm ever actually snoozing.

With the result of me panicking at 4:45 in the bathroom this morning because I thought it was already 5am and I was still in there and had to go and get my sister up already since she only has 30 minutes to prepare because our car leaves the house ideally at 5:30am to avoid the major major traffic of Manila……..

(Disclaimer of a Psychology undergrad: I did not actually “panic”. People rarely ever actually “panic”. Or freak out. Or whatever exaggerated terms this generation likes to use nowadays.)

2) I have discovered Lord Stow’s Bakery’s Egg Tarts…

…and they are absolutely delicious!!! I don’t know what I was expecting, they look so much like the usual tart, but the crust was… here, I’ll do it bit by bit.

Crust: the light, crumbly kind, that’s also sort of papery, so don’t think actual crumbly. Just wonderful.

Filling: It was sort of like custard and sort of like leche flan, and was not too sweet; barely sweet; but the best part was the elusive essence of savory burnt cheese in every bite…!!!

Oh, that was only two bits after all.

[insert picture here – again, I profusely apologize for the lack of pictures in this blog. Although I am not a usual foodie-pic person, I guess I’ll make exceptions for this.]

…and, that’s it for random ramblemate today, I guess.

I had fun. Bye!

UPDATE: As of 10 minutes from publishing this blog, I found the Dashboard of my WordPress and went to General Settings. The thing I was looking to rename is actually the “Site Title“. Hurrah! I am now really and truly the Random Ramblemate!

The First of a Projected Million

Hallo. This is the first time I’ve ever tried having a blog, or writing a blog, or posting a blog… anything to do with blogs, assume that I’ve not done it before.

So. Why did I choose to begin a blog?

Firstly, I believe it’s because I … to avoid using the word “bored”, let’s say I found myself with quite a bit of free time on my hands after finishing my undergraduate course in Psychology.

Secondly, it’s because I am very fond of writing – not quite poems and stories, but basically descriptive writing, describing what I see, feel, do, in a way that seems, at least to me, funny and absorbing. Of course, I mustn’t assume that everyone will find my diaries as hilarious as I do.

Thirdly, I began to consider a blog after I realized that I myself enjoy reading other people’s blogs. Especially if it is well-written, although it is only a glimpse into that blogger’s life, I enjoy it.

I don’t suppose there’s a fourth or fifth reason… That’s got to be it.

So, why Blogger? (this from when I was actually trying Blogger out.)

I don’t really know. The truth of the matter is, I had no real idea how to begin a blog, and this logo seemed familiar, so I decided to look into it. Apparently it attaches to my gmail account, so I guess I can trust it (?).

My twin sister says wordpress, but… well, I suppose I could look into that as well.

NEW CONTENT: Here I am, looking into it.

Hello, wordpress! I like you better than Blogger. For one thing, you’re much more beautiful! And smooth, and user-friendly… more to the list when I’ve been on this site longer.

See, I’m rambling. Thus the title “Random Ramblemate”, which, by the way, I am just delighted with!

So, from your newest blogger, hello, and also adieu, for now!

Your Random Ramblemate,

Ruth
